You're My Melody Chapter 6: Undecided

They were back in Jaejoong’s car on their way to the hotel where she’s staying at. Jaejoong didn’t want her to leave. He told her to stay for the night since it was already late. The offer was tempting and Seohyun used all her willpower to refuse. She doesn’t want to burden them any more than she already did. Besides her problems won’t be solved unless she finds a good place to stay not just for one night but as long as she needs it.

Her birthday party was over but the happiness she feels still lingers. But now thinking that she have to go back to an empty hotel room her mood is starting to plunge down. Jaejoong didn’t say a thing the whole time they were in the car which is strange. He doesn’t seem to be the kind who would keep his mouth shut for long. They were in the lobby when she said her goodbye.

“I will see you again, right?” he said, the first words he said to her since they left the dorm.

She thought about the possibility of meeting him again. Probably in SME just like the first time. Or it could be anywhere. “Yeah, I guess …” she said hoping it’s true.

Jaejoong smiled. “Jal ja yo…”

“Na do jal ja..” she said. She turned to leave while Jaejoong waited until she was out of sight before getting back in the car. He stayed inside the car for a couple of minutes before he made up his mind and went back to the hotel lobby.

“Sumimasen…” he said to the receptionist at the front desk.

“May I help you sir?” she asked.

“The girl I was with a few moments ago. Lee Seohyun. Do you happen to know how long she’s planning to stay here?”

“Sorry sir but I’m not allowed to give away that kind of information.”

“Please… It’s really important. Onegaishimasu.”

Shi hesitated a bit but eventually agreed. “Alright sir. Chotto matte kudasai.” Jaejoong wasn’t sure what made her agree but he was happy she did.

“She made reservations for a one night stay. Miss Lee didn’t inform us of any plans of extending her stay.”

“Ah, sou desu ka?” his disappointment must’ve been obvious because the receptionist gave her a look that said “sorry to disappoint you”.  “What time will she be checking out?”

“Around noon sir”. Seohyun said she can’t stay long. If she’s checking out at noon then she must have been planning to go back to Seoul by then. Their performance tomorrow is around 10am. If he hurry he might catch her at the airport. Why he’s been taking all those efforts to see her before she leaves to Seoul, he has no idea. All he knows is he wanted to see her again and he’s determined to do just that.

He smiled to the receptionist. “Arigatou Gozaimasu.”

“What’s wrong with Jaejoong hyung?” junsu asked changmin worriedly. “He’s been staring at his watch every now and then and he seemed anxious about something.”

“Is he worried about the performance?” Junsu asked. They are about to enter the stage in 30 mins. Junsu and changmin had been playing games while Jaejoong stays at the corner checking the time once in a while. Yunho and Yoochun are still in the dressing room with the stylist. “I’ve never seen jaejoong hyung this worried before because of a performance.”

Changmin looked at Jaejoong and smirked. “He’s fine. Don’t mind him.”

“He doesn’t seem fine. I’ll talk to him.” Junsu said but before he could stand Changmin stopped him. “I’ll do it.”

Changmin sat next to jaejoong. “hyung, gwenchana?”

“Hmmm.” Jajeoong replied but Changmin knew better. He smiled and pick up his phone, pressed some buttons and gave it to jaejoong. Jaejoong  looked at the phone surprised.

“You don’t have to thank me hyung.” Changmin said with a grin on his face.

“Aniyo. I’m not planning to thank you.” He coppied the number on his own phone. Deleted the number in Changmin’s phone before returning it.

“Ya~ hyung~ Hajima!” Changmin protested but it was too late. Jaejoong already removed Seohyun’s number. “Aish. Chincha…” he said annoyed.

Jaejoong smiled. He doesn’t like Changmin hitting on Seohyun. It’s obvious Changmin likes her. He even took the chance to get her number. They’ve just met last night and he already got her number. He kept thinking whether they already talked on the phone or if they exchanged emails. Somehow the thought makes jaejoong so mad and he doesn’t exactly understand why.

“Aren’t you going to call her?” Changmin asked when he saw jaejoong keeping his phone on his pocket instead of dialing Seohyun’s number.

“Eh? A-aniyo. Why should I?”

“Molla… I just thought you want to talk to her. You’re not yourself since this morning and Junsu hyung is worried.”

“Mind your own business Changmin.”

“Shiro.” Changmin smirked. “Give me your phone. I’ll call her.”

“Get lost chagmin.”

“Common hyung… You’re so obvious. You like her don’t you? Anyway, I already sent her an email telling her to come and watch our performance.”

That surprised jaejoong. “Jeongmal??”

Changmin laughed. It was a lie of course. “Ani. I did not. I haven’t called her or even sent her an email. You can relax now.”

“Changmin-ah~ If you do not get out of my sight soon I think I might kill you.”

“Ok. I’ll go. But hyung, don’t worry. I know she’s off limits. I just asked for her number last night because I know you’ll be too stupid to ask for it yourself.” Changmin said before standing up to leave.

“Geurae. Babo da.” Jaejoong agreed and smiled. “Changmin-ah~” he called before changmin left. “Gomawo~”

“I thought you’re not going to thank me.”

“I changed my mind.”

Changmin smiled. “Call her. Don’t waste my efforts.”

“Ne, hyungnim.” Changmin’s lips formed a satisfied smile.

-----

Seohyun left the hotel earlier than she’s supposed to. She is still not sure what to do. The few money left in her wallet enough only for one plane ticket to Korea left her no choice but to go home. She sighed hard. With heavy heart she forced herself to pack and leave the hotel. She walked for a bit hoping a little walk would clear her mind. She wanted to see Jaejoong so much. She wanted to stay so bad.

Last night, Seohyun noticed for the first time how the moon could be so wonderful. She never thought she could feel so warm despite the chill the evening breeze brings. Jaejoong made her feel things she never thought possible. The fast beating of her heart like it will burst out of her ribcage, her cheeks growing warm everytime she caught Jaejoong staring at her – which happened a lot, her lips forming into a smile making her feel like a total idiot smiling for nothing. It all seemed like a dream. She smiled with the thought.

However, all those memories seem so long ago. And now she has to come back to Korea… to reality. Her smile faded.

She hailed a taxi and instructed the driver to take her to Narita International Airport. She’s going back to Seoul because it seems like it’s the right thing to do. Besides she doesn’t have much choice. She has to leave before she changed her mind.
